I Love Cat music video is a pure surrealistic piece without any beyond-nature effect.

The regular music video, especially love music videos, will describe only part that the main actor/actress is intensive with.

In the reality, when I or you walk out from the house’s door, we may see a beggar, who has nothing related to our life. Next to another block of street, a group of teenagers are shouting in a basketball court. Step pass a church, there are a wedding in it. All of these are a part of our life, that we hear, see and smell, but we just do not care.

I Love Cat video is what I describe above. The camera looks at all the stuff around a clean cafe, and right now, the audience gotta care about all those things.

Surrealism does noe quite mean over-nature, but it is the real more than real, which many times, the artists did the work as symbolic.

“I Love Cat” video shows that it is not all people need to be interested in the band. Someone does not care, and someone is disturbed, when he take a call.

The only part that I do not really know is the meaning of Japanese lyrics. If the lyrics are not about the music video at all, that should bee the same concept of whole video, to show the relationship between many un-relating things. It is no matter how many things they are, this video is one piece of art; and it is no matter how many rooms we walk through, that is one day of our life.

Zi:Kill Calling the real One-piece art

If you have visited many museums, you would have known the real one-piece artwork. The easy example is the painting which all elements are connected with one line or something that can hold them together. This can be the continued spaces as painting of Michael Angelo, “Creation of Adam”.

Notice the space between their fingers.

Then, we compare this kind of art with this video Zi:Kill – Calling

Notice how many clips were arranged. Zoom in – Zoom out, and the continued movement. Every clip can be combined with each other very well, although they were taken in different place. Look at the beginning and the end, both were made with the same technique, so if we repeat the video, this point is also harmony, too. For me, the greatest part is when Tusk (the vocalist) walked pass the big columns and the shade of front columns hid him. This video does not allow everything to be stuck. The video was continued by the moving screen back-white colors on the shade og those columns. So we can see how surreal it is.

Surreal is more than real or really really real. Every human who walks from a place to another place, he need the continued way. If you look at regular movies or music video that changing the screen without any joint, that is not true. I also think about another interesting example, that is all parts of human’s body have to be joined together, whatever by tube, membrane or nerve.

All zi:Kill’s works are really fantastic, They are easy, but perfect. Not just perfect when whole thing is combined together, each piece and each sub-piece is perfect in itself.

Kick ass thing I found in ’Slow Down’ video.
Dont just watch the video, let’s think about it. =D

It is not other music video; but it is Zi : Kill’s music video which I want to review. This video was taken when I was five years old, and that is not my point.

The beginning of the scene is the correct proportion for photography that is really good idea to use in the video which the camera stay in the same place. It makes the viewer feel like something moves inside the photograph. After that, the scenes change to be many things that are not connect to each other, but it is very strange that all things give the same emotion. The video camera movement and the movie maker of this video are very excellent, too, because all motions can continue as he or she took it just one time, but in fact, I can see that they might work more than three times to get some shots. If I try to think about other way to make the continue shot without cutting the video again and again, all musicians had to run behind the video camera, that is really creative. After that shot, they also tried to confuse the viewer about the way to make that shot by moving the pictures from the center of scene. The colors of the places in the video also were changed for the different emotions in each part of songs. It means the same place can give many emotions by different color or different time. They showed the changing of time in a clip that all colors are the same, but with the movement of cloud. There is a thing that attracts me as an architecture student so much: that is the light technique at the window and the door where the people in this music video moved in and out. Mostly, people think that the black color is the deepest space, but there are a lot of new architectures that use the light to define the endless space. For example, the architect put the end of the column in the lighten hole, and no one knows that where the end of the column is. Some famous architects also use this technique to make the feeling of endless wall or space. At the end of this video, all feathers fly against the gravity which makes me think about all of us and all buildings which are against the gravity to stand up to the sky. It also reminds me about how Gaudi made his curves with the gravity by hanging the slings, and spraying the wax on them, then, turning it up to against the gravity. All entire video explains about shade and shadow which are very important factor for all architectures. They used different light in different time. It means the architects have to find the right angle for their building.

Great idea about black and white on artwork.

Zi : Kill also broke the laws of visual art, but they did it very good and very clearly. Their main color is black which should not be used in all paintings in the world. If you take a look very closely at all well-known paintings, you will never see the black color, but the dark colors are dark green, dark blue, etc. The reason of this weird thing that happened to all great artists, and sometimes, it happened to me, is the black color cannot give any feeling. It is full and stuck in itself or in its area. For this point that Zi : Kill can use it with other artwork, is the black color on their suits will not affect the feelings of all things they gave in their music and music video.

Picasso painted the “Timeless Relevance” to show the stories of the wars, and he used black and white color, because this mono-color will not affect people’s eyes, but the colorful painting will make people lost some of its contents when they see too many color. For me, Zi : Kill did exactly the same concept as Picasso, but just in different kinds of art.

Happy Feet the movie

My favorite movie has been, “Happy Feet” since last year. It is the story of a dancing penguin who could change the thought of all people in the world to not hurt the north pole environment. This penguin inspired me to dance, and I can dance exactly the same as it. I found a front man of Zi%Kill in youtube.com, and he could dance same as that penguin. His songs also gave me the penguin step’s. Although most people think that the slow songs cannot be used for dancing, but for these songs, they all can be use for my favorite penguin dancing. They all are amazing. I had fun with penguin dancing last night in my room, then an old woman who was in the room below me went up to my floor, and she said, “Stop hammer your fuckin nails!”
